I was summoned, taking the steps with the angel. He said to take my seat on the bench and wait for someone. Soon I can see this person coming to me and behold, again, it’s Bob Jones! He greets me and calls me, "My friend." He is full of life, just full of life! A great big beautiful smile and just full of life! And of course, I don't get to speak out loud, but in my mind I was thinking, ‘how can I help you today?’ He read my thoughts and said, “I would like you all, you and your friends, if you have the love, to honor me with this beautiful song, Amazing Grace."
Ruben: So he wants to hear it. With respect, if you will help me, if you have the words to it I will follow you. And so the three of us,* sang Amazing Grace to our friend, Bob Jones. Ruben shared that Bob Jones spoke that if people would just sing songs that would speak into their lives. He said, "God yearns for us to give Him praise, to lift Him up. He gives so much to us, but we give Him very little time because of the things of this world. But God is so gracious, He takes that little bit of time. We don't give Him our time like we should. He's a merciful God."
Ruben: Now, I could not help but to understand and to feel the heart of this man of God, Bob Jones. Because as he was speaking to me, asking if I and my friends could sing this song, I could see the expression on his face, that it would bring him joy for us to acknowledge the Father, and yes, because he was yearning to hear it. It didn't matter how it sounded, just that we were submissive to what this man of God was pleading for. In my mind I was thinking, will they do it, all I can do is ask. Bob Jones knew my thoughts. He grabbed my hand then embraced me. "It will be alright he said, it's going to be alright.” These men and women in Heaven still have feelings and they just want to be able to share it.” Bob Jones said, "I will see you again my friend."
*As Ruben shared this message via FaceTime, while it was being recorded, Ruben, my husband and myself sang Amazing Grace for Bob Jones.
